Moving...continues...

Well...if it hadn't been for my Mom I think I would have crawled in a hole and not come out. Which would not have been all bad if someone else had packed/de-cluttered/moved us! But, thankfully Mom was here to give a hand...or a number of hands! She's amazing! And then to wake up VERY early to head home. And she didn't even stick around for chocolate chip scones! I am so very thankful that this is the last week of being surrounded by boxes. I read 'After the boxes are unpacked' a while back to prepare myself for what moving would do to me and my family, but I don't think I totally comprehended the emotional drainage I would be feeling. I am officially exhausted. This morning I couldn't do much but pop a movie in for the girls (since it was once again windy out) and sulk. I drank coffee (still no cream and sugar, by the way) and walked around the house and around the house and around the house and got pretty much nothing done. I am so glad Sheri called to visit! That brightened my day. And I was sad to have missed Amanda's call. I had taken the kids on a drive to look at the forces (horses). So, here's to my last Friday night in this home....

I thought about those chocolate chip scones most of the way home - at least during the time you would have been eating them. I kept thinking - I should have stayed just a little bit longer :)

We have moved many, many times and I understand completely the mental and physical exhaustion that accompanies it. Here is a piece of advice one of Gale's cousins gave me the first time we moved: Don't think about what it's like now. Just think that in two weeks (next week, whatever) you will be unpacked and moved in to your new house.
That advice has served me well for over 30 years!

I have to share what I told Leah on Wed. night. I had taken care of the kids while Leah and Jason went on a supper date for Leah's birthday. Jake had been a bit fussy becasue of having two shots. The kids were all so good but I kept busy with them so I didn't get much packing done in that time. I told Leah 'whatever you packed before I came to help was amazing - I didn't get much packed when I was watching the kids and I was exhausted from the day!' Leah - you did GREAT!!!!

Thank you for sharing about your friday! My eyes got teary just reading this post. Leah, I can't imagine what you are going through. I dread moving as well, but I am only packing up 1 person; not 5!! I'm sorry I missed you, but I will call you next week.
