My friend, Tresa, gave me an aloe vera plant last night. When she asked if I'd like one I told her I could try it out but it may die on me. So, the question is...do you actually HAVE to water plants to keep them alive? I have one very small flower bed (which is mostly shaded and that's great because I don't remember the last time I watered it) and two small planters in the back. I walk by them numerous times during the day becasue they are by the door. But, I NEVER water them. They are dry as a bone. I wonder why, if I only have a little bit to water, why I don't! I know...I know...laziness! Seriously...they should make plants you don't have to water... and I'm NOT talking fake plants. Those are on my list of things I'll NEVER have because how many times have I gone by someone's home, in the dead of winter, and seen bright/gorgeous looking flowers still growing in the planters!! NO WAY...not for me! So...all this to say, when I'm telling myself 'water them'...'You're kidding me...right?!?!' I sure hope this new little plant doesn't die on me...but if it does...we know why................
NO WATER!!!

I know the feeling! When we got married I'm not sure how many plants Tod had, (yes Tod had plants, and yes he kept them alive!)but after we had been married about a year I think all but one was dead! All the things we have to remember to take care of and feed, plants are the last thing on the list!
I watered your plants when I was at your house in early Aug. so that means the poor things have been without for about a month!!!! If they have survived that long - in that heat - they are pretty hearty plants. Have they survived???? Do they have any green on them????? Leah, you are going to have the 'plants rights activists' after you. :)
