Blessing...

Okay...so maybe I use the word, 'Blessing' a lot...but it can't really be over-used when things are a blessing.

My Mom and I started having morning 'coffee' on Wednesdays. Yes, she lives 9 hours away. Yes, we do talk nearly every day. But, we decided to have a designated time to sit down with coffee and talk about things we are learning in our Bible reading and other Christian reads. So, though we are not in the same room...we are having coffee together.

Yesterday was our first official 'coffee' together. What a joy (and, yes, Blessing) it is to talk with my Mom and ask advice, share what we are learning and how God is growing us. We even pray together at the end. I am so thankful for my Mom. She is such a Godly woman and one who's hearts desire is to do as God wills. Blessing blessing blessing!!

Another blessing:

Last night we were headed to church. Got caught in terrible traffic due to an accident. It was Jason's first night to usher. It was after 7pm by the time we arrived. Those are the times when I'm like 'really...what's the point?' I am certain it was satan's way of discouraging me. We arrived at church and we had a Missionary speaking from Kenya. I can't even express the joy that filled my heart to listen to him tell of those who were saved and lived their lives for Him to their dying day! I am so glad we didn't miss the entire service. It was so refreshing and encouraging!! God is at work all over the world!! Souls are being saved!!! It is so neat to hear these Missionaries share what is going on in their lives and those they are reaching. God truly will say 'Well done, My good and faithful servant.' I pray that that is said of me. That I was faithful, growing, telling others of Him. So, though Jason missed his first time of ushering and we were late getting to church, I am so thankful we made it to most of the service. It is always wonderful to be refreshed and reminded that all over the world Souls are being won to Christ!!

We, of course, got caught in that same traffic. I even left early that night. It was a blessing to be there. I hate when Satan tries to sidetrack me even on the way! Also, what a blessing to be able to share that time with your mom. Treasure it! Prayerfully you'll be able to do that with your girls one day when they are in other towns or states or countries (missionaries, maybe?). And, no, blessing is not overused. It's underused. God is constantly blessing us, and I'm thankful that you share the little ways and big that He does!

I too enjoyed the services last night. I'm so thankful that our church has such a heart for missions and that we do honor them when they do come our way. What a blessing to give to them last night. It always puts my "wants" and "needs" in perspective. How wonderful for you to be able to fellowship with your mom in that way every week. Don't take that for granted!!! As Melanie said I hope it is handed down from generation to generation. Thanks for your blog entries. They are an encouragement to me!
