Okay...I want to hear from YOU!! I want to know what one (or more) of your favorite childhood or adulthood memories are of Summer time!
I'll share some of mine:
As a Child I loved to go swimming. Mom would spread her towel under the huge shade tree at the pool and we would swim all afternoon.
Also, I loved going for 'cone rides' with the family. Now our family does that: get a treat and go for a drive together.
And, with our own family, our new 'hot spot' is 'Little Man's Ice Cream' downtown (nearly downtown...I should say). YUMMY!!
Watching the kids swim and ride bikes.
Making smores in our firepit out back.
Camping
So, now you can share some of your own!!

~ Camping....real camping, open fire cooking, pancakes in the early morning cooked on the little gas stove one at a time, sleeping in the huge canvas old school tent! Those were the days! (I don't know how my parents slept on the ground! Talk about body aches!!!)=)
~ Listening to dad preach
~ Family, fresh popcorn (the real thing!) and a movie
I loved everything to do with water: washing the car, going swimming in the lake, running through the sprinkler. Fresh corn on the cob and rhubarb crisp are surely summer favorites.
I realize now it was slave labor and that by publishing this on the interweb my parents will probably go to jail or a new law will be passed, but one of the things I loved as a kid (among many) was when we would clean the house on Saturday's or do the lawn or whatever needed to get done, we could take our mugs down for a 25 cent refill. Hours of work, and we were allowed to walk down to the gas station for 25 cents of soda. But it was FUN. Making a suicide pop. Good thing I've been able to exploit my father's usefulness on my "home". Now who's working for peanuts dad?!?
I remember going fishing in the summer in MN. If everyones work was done we would load up the car and go to a lake to fish. We would clean the fish together (with our family we had a good assembly line) and grandma VV would fry the fish. It was the best!
I loved going on our family vacations to S. Dakota. We would stay at the KOA and then see sites in the day time. I will never forget that.
Phil...those are on my favorite list as well!! So many good memories there! Do you remember me calling the log cabin the 'loggin'? Hey...I was 7!! Such sweet memories!!
Those SD vacations were really fun. Remember when we drove and drove to find the 'wonderous cave' or something like that. Dad said it was called 'wonderous' because we wondered when we would ever get to it.
Or meeting our cabin neighbor who knew unlce Doug? That was wild!!
Do you remember when I threw up on the barbeque grill. That was nasty, but I remember it.
No, I don't!! That is G.R.O.S.S!!! Did Mom clean it up? I think I would have left it there!!
My mom took us swimming in a muddy pond in KS. We made our own fishing poles, and Arnie always caught a fish.
We would get all packed, then when Dad came home from work we would load up in the station wagon and go tent camping by the Little Arkansas river. We even had to dig our own toilets. My dad showed me how to find constellations.
Corn on the Cob. Sometimes we would have a whole meal of it.
Watermelon. Same thing.
On payday we would drive to B&D for burgers or DQ for a treat.
My brothers & I made a "covered wagon" and played Little House.
We made tents on the clothesline.
