7 mile run!

I am training for a 1/2 Marathon in September! I am really super excited about it! I started with a training program. The first few weeks it was a 2 minute run/1minute walk interval. Then it moved up to a 3 minute run/1 minute walk intervals. I had not felt like I was improving on my endurance, so on Monday I decided to just run my 2 mile route by running as far as I could. That was the trick! I talked it over with Jason later and he said I probably wasn't getting into a good rhythm before and by running further I could get into a rhythm. So...I was excited to see how my 7 mile run would go this morning: would Monday's run just turn into a 'good running day' (you know: the run that goes well once in a while which keeps you motivated to run again to get that 'good run' in again), or if stopping the 3min/1min intervals was the trick.

I woke up, got ready for the day, dropped all three kids off at school, came home, threw my hair up, and headed out the door. It was amazing! First off, the day was beautiful. Second, the run was great! I ran the first 3.5 miles mostly going up hill. I could run further and am happy to report I enjoyed my 7 mile run! That is OVER half of a 1/2 Marathon!

Technically I will be ready to run a 1/2 Marathon in June (according to my schedule of training), but my first scheduled 1/2 Marathon is in September. Who knows... maybe I will find myself at the start of a 1/2 Marathon in June....
