1st Time being a Country Girl

As you know, we are moving out in the country soon!  I thought closing day was this week, but it is actually on the 8th.  Anyway...

I am just going to be honest here:  I know very little (well...basically nothing) about being a country girl.  Sure, I grew up in a Cowboy town...but note the word 'town'.  Not the country.  Then, when Jason and I got married, we moved to rural Nebraska...but lived in town (the town has less than 300 people).  And then we made the big treck to Denver.  City life.  I do love city life, but must admit I am ready for the country.

So, I am going to be making posts about my life as a Country Girl (well...Jason calls me his Country Woman)...and I am not going to even try to pretend I know what I am talking about.  I won't use the right words or any such thing while I am learning to be 'Country'.  (Does listening to Country Music make me more Country??)

First off:  4H.
We registered all of our kids in 4H this past year.  Mind you, I have only heard of 4H.  Never been in it.  Jason has, though.  So, off we go to 4H and I take the kids in to 4H and find out they are having a meeting, to which I tell Joan (our very nice 4h Coordinator) that I will take the kids outside so they don't have to sit through the meeting.  LOL (if you know anything about 4H...the meeting IS 4h).  I get out to the van where Jason was waiting and he asks why the kids are not in there and I say, 'because I figured they would be bored sitting in a meeting. I will just bring them back later'.  To which he says, 'Leah, the meeting IS 4h.'  'HUH?!?!'  Are you kidding me?  Jason brought them back in.

The next time we headed to 4H I went in with the kids and stayed during the meeting.  'Ahhhh...I get it now!'.  lol  We still laugh about this.

Fast Forward:
County Fair (this weekend. We went last night)
We are looking at the rabbit exhibits.  I saw one 'tag' had 'BOB' on it.  'Oh, that is the bunnies name!'  And then, somewhere in the distance behind me I faintly heard Jason say 'Best of Breed'.  I didn't take much notice of that.  Off down the rows we went and more tags said, 'BOB'.  I said, 'They are all named Bob!' And then it hit me, 'Oh! Best of Breed'. LOL  Jason laughed and said, 'Blonde'.

This is just the beginning of my Country Woman life.  Maybe next year we'll have some 'Bobs' in the Fair, or chickens, or goats.  Who knows.  One thing I do know, though, is I should be making some headway in my country knowledge...
